Wenchuan Earthquake in the PRC

The Group made commendable contributions towards the restoration efforts at Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province, PRC. Luye Pharma donated RMB 1 million in funds for the re-construction of two schools in Deyang, Sichuan Province, which had been previously destroyed by the effects of the earthquake. The new schools have been designed to be resistant to the effects of earthquakes.

In addition, the Group pledged RMB 1.02 million worth of medical supplies and basic necessities to the Red Cross Society for treating medical condition of survivors of the earthquake

Separately, the Group together with its subsidiaries – namely Shandong Luye Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd., Nanjing Kanghai Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd., Nanjing Sike Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. and WBL Peking University Biotech Co. Ltd – and Luye Pharma employees have also made donations of approximately RMB 817,000 to support relief activities in the affected zones.

  1 st June Beijing The All-China Women’s Federation held a ceremony on May 31 at the Great Hall of the People to mark the 20th anniversary of the Spring Bud project. The China Children and Teenagers’ Fund launched the project 20 years ago to help girls from impoverished families get back to primary school education. The purpose of the event was to review the project’s achievements over the past two decades and specify its development goals. The ceremony also honored 41 outstanding organizations and 12 individuals for their contributions to the project. Of Which Shandong Luye Pharmaceutical Co, Ltd won the “China Children Charity Award”.

 Gu Xiulian, president of the China Children and Teenagers’ Fund and former president of the ACWF, expressed thanks for the support received from caring people from all walks of life. She spoke of the need for deeper implementation of the project and more innovative promotion of children’s charitable activities.

 In Wenchuan earthquake, the schools in disaster area were severely damaged; many school yards were razed to ground instantly. To let the children have a bright classrooms again, Shandong Luye Pharmaceutical company worked with China Children’s and Teenagers’ Fund together, donated 1,000,000 RMB to build two quake-proof Spring Bud Elementary School in the disaster area in Deyang, Sichuan Province. Considering of the poor health condition, medicine shortage and infectious disease in disaster area, Luye Pharma donated medicine which values 1,030,000RMB with 980,000 RMB cash at the earliest time. In the 14th anniversary of Luye Pharma, the employee donated many kinds of presents to the children in disaster area to bring warm to them.

 On the 1 st June Children’s Day 2009, the employee of Luye Pharma expressed there love for the children in Spring Bud Primary school Again, 38,945 RMB and the books equivalent to more than 20,000 RMB had been sent to the Children.
